Our Puppy Practices
Peregrine puppies are raised in our home, with people, vacuum cleaners, other dogs and all the sights, smells and sounds you would expect from a typical family environment!
From birth, we perform ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) program to help gently introduce mild stressors during the critical neonatal period. This structured program is designed to support improved stress tolerance, and overall resilience as the puppies grow.
As they develop, puppies are exposed to a variety of safe surfaces (carpet, tile, grass, gravel) and learning toys (slides, wobble boards), gentle handling by different people, grooming tools, and age-appropriate novelty experiences. We introduce short car rides, supervised outdoor time when appropriate, and crate exposure to help build confidence and adaptability.
Basic house training begins as soon as developmentally appropriate. Puppies are started on a structured routine that includes designated potty areas and the foundation of good habits before they leave for their new homes.
We also begin early grooming exposure — an essential part of raising a Keeshond. Puppies are gently introduced to brushing, weekly nail trims, baths, and blow drying in positive, low-stress sessions so that coat care becomes a normal part of life.
Puppies are sent home with a puppy pack that includes toys, food, a puppy collar and leash, and a detailed information sheet to help you transition smoothly into life together.
Before leaving, each puppy will have:
-
A microchip
-
A full veterinary health check from Veterinary Village, a renowned specialist reproductive veterinary center located near me in Wisconsin
-
Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming
-
A fresh bath and blow dry
-
Basic house training underway
I am always available for questions, support, or advice once you have your new pup.
I am also committed to mentoring those who are genuinely interested in preservation of the Keeshond. Show and breeding prospects are placed selectively in homes that share my commitment to health testing, pedigree research, correct structure, and breed integrity. I am happy to provide guidance and ongoing support to those who are interested in pursuing this direction!
Parents have excellent "typical Keeshond" temperaments and are OFA health tested for Hips, Knees, Patellas, Eyes, Heart, PHPT, and other genetic tests where indicated.
Are you interested in joining the dog show world? Let me know! We need new people joining the fancy and representing our breed! I would love to work with you to get you started in showing!

Things to Consider About Applying
-
Please budget $3000-$3500 to purchase a Peregrine puppy. There is no difference in show vs pet pricing.
-
There may be a long wait for a puppy. The best thing to do is to check in with me occasionally for updates. You are never bothering me by checking in!
-
While most of my puppies go on to companion homes, I will give preference to homes that already participate in conformation or dog sports.
-
Puppies will be placed based on temperament after evaluations are done at 7-8 weeks old. We want to make sure the puppy is the best fit for your family! We will take your preferences into consideration but that is secondary to temperament.
-
Companion puppies are sold on spay/neuter contracts with limited AKC registration. This means they can participate in dog sports, AKC STAR Puppy etc, but they cannot be shown or used for breeding unless by prior arrangement.
-
I recommend my puppy homes enroll and participate in regular, positive reinforcement socializing and training classes.
-
I like to meet my puppy buyers and do not use a courier or cargo service. I prefer you to pick up your puppy in person; for those not able to drive in, it is recommended that you fly in and take your puppy back on the plane with you as carry on (puppy needs to be younger than 10 weeks old for this). The closest airport to us is Milwaukee, WI.
-
If you are not able to pick up in person, I do offer in person delivery (flight estimates start at $850 or by car at $2 per mile)

I would love to meet you! Come to dog shows to visit if you can, meet our dogs and get involved!
